Appointment Guide

Please allow up to 2 hours for your appointment – especially if this is your initial visit with us

Please bring the following

  • Referral – from your GP, Optometrist or Specialist. Your referral must be dated the day of, or before the day of your appointment. Typically referrals last for 12 months, so a new one will be needed each year.
  • Glasses –  your distance glasses (for driving, TV watching etc) and your reading glasses with you on the day.  If you are a contact lens wearer, please wear your glasses instead of contact lenses (but bring your contacts with you).
  • List of current medications – This will help us to record as complete a medical history as possible
  • Test results – anything that might be relevant for your consultation

The day of your appointment

As part of your consultation, initial screening is performed by our orthoptists. This will include testing your vision and other diagnostic tests that are relevant.

Drops may be instilled to dilate your pupils which will affect your ability to drive for up to 2 hours after your visit. It is advisable to bring someone with you to drive if possible. We also recommend  you bring sunglasses as your vision will be sensitive to light during this time.

Payment

Payment is required on the day of your consultation and we offer Medicare Online claiming. We accept EFTPOS, cash or cheque. Please phone us prior to your appointment and we will be happy to advise costs of your consultation.

We happily accept DVA card holders.
